About Italian Greyhound Club of America (IGCA)
IGCA Rescue volunteers foster dogs in their homes, where their health and temperament are evaluated. All dogs are taken for a veterinary check-up: when necessary, vaccinations are updated, the animal is neutered/spayed and its teeth are cleaned. Each Italian Greyhound is evaluated so that it can be placed in a home suitable to both the dog and the new owner.
Prospective adopters are required to fill out a short application and go through an interview process, including a home check. At the time of placement, the adoptee is required to sign a simple adoption contract. A $275 - $350 donation is requested at the time of placement. These donations are returned to the Italian Greyhound Rescue Fund to provide medical care for future rescue dogs.
Unfortunately, the number of Italian Greyhounds being placed through the Rescue is on the rise. Responsible, loving homes are always needed. Want to know more about rescue? Find a rep near you and contact them.
